The Deepdene, Midanbury Road
Plaque on one of the gateposts of Deepdene House in Midanbury Lane.
It records that Supermarine’s Wages Department moved to this location in 1940 followed by the Accounts
Department after the bombing of the works in Woolston in September 1940. There is a lot of uncertainty about the dates when the Departments moved in and out of Deepdene and it seems likely that they operated both from here and Southend House, Hursley, simultaneously for a period, but all had moved to Hursley by 1944.
