Dr Cheryl Butler
BLHS Monthly Meeting Saturday 9th, April, 2022
at 7.00 pm, United Reformed Church (above Iceland), Bitterne Precinct
Dr Cheryl Butler is a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society, Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, and Honorary Fellow of the University of Winchester. She was the Winner of the British Association of Local History Personal Achievement Award in 2014 and was presented with the City of Southampton Award for Services to Heritage in 2018.
Dr Butler will share some of knowledge she gained while researching ‘St Mary-over-the-Water: The story of the Jesus Chapel, Pear Tree Green‘ that she published in 2020. It is a story of ferrymen and fishermen, the East India Company, writers, poets and artists, of the effects of war and the peace to be found in a small village chapel in the heart of the bustling city of Southampton.
