John Richards was born, brought up and educated in Guernsey. After school, he attended London University for four years. He has had two careers: first, as a schoolmaster, specialising in the teaching of English Language and English Literature; second, as a public relations consultant, acting for clients such as the Guernsey Tourist Board.
Today, John is chairman of Winchester Talking Newspaper for the blind and he tutors English Language & Literature at GCSE level.
Throughout Churchill’s long and extraordinary life, he wrote 1,000 letters to his mother and 1,700 to his wife. These letters chronicle the great man’s enormous talents and achievements. John’s talk uses judiciously selected letters to illustrate them.
