Geoff Watts
BLHS Monthly Meeting Saturday, 9th September 2023
at 7.00 pm, United Reformed Church (above Iceland), Bitterne Precinct
Geoff Watts is a Heritage Guide with Hamble Valley & Eastleigh Guides and takes public walks at Botley and elsewhere. He has presented ‘Mr Cobbett’ in productions with the Sarah Siddons Fan Club, such as the one (pictured above) in the grounds of Netley Abbey ruins. He will appear as himself this evening!
Geoff will give us a trip back in time to explore the village of Botley’s connections with William Cobbett, who lived there in the first part of the 19th Century. His full life included being a writer, farmer, and politician, as well as serving time in prison. Cobbett wrote Rural Rides, a book still in print today.
